On September 15, local time in Peru, CYPC, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), held a special Mid-Autumn Festival Open Day at the China-Peru Cultural Center in Lima. Over 90 local employees and their families from CYPC's subsidiary, Luz del Sur, along with staff from China Yangtze Power International in Peru, joined in the festivities, celebrating a harmonious and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival.
The event kicked off with two stunning classical Chinese dances, Looking for Him in the West-wing Room?and Canal Towns in south of the Yangtze River. The performers, clad in elegant Hanfu and wielding graceful round fans, transported the audience into the poetic world of traditional Chinese culture. Ji Miaona, a student from the Confucius Institute at Ricardo Palma University, performed the Chinese classic song Wishing We Last Forever. Her accurate pronunciation and melodious voice captivated the audience?and earned?thunderous applause.
Subsequently, under the guidance of a Chinese pastry chef, employees from both China and Peru enthusiastically learned?how to make snow-skin mooncakes. From kneading the dough to filling and molding the mooncakes, participants crafted their colorful treats with great care. The mooncakes, with their intricate designs and diverse fillings, were met with admiration for both their appearance and taste. Everyone relished the opportunity to create and taste their own mooncake?and they?deeply appreciated the symbolic meaning of reunion that the dessert embodies.
A special guest, Mr. Wei Tingzhong, a Chinese expatriate and calligraphy enthusiast, was invited to teach participants how to write the character "月" (moon) using a traditional Chinese brush. The participants, excited and immersed in the experience, filled the room with different renditions of the character—some following the pictorial form, others inspired by their interpretations. The event was in full swing as attendees engaged with this cultural expression, sparking a shared curiosity and love for Chinese culture.
