On April 24, CYPC acquired 83.6% of stock equity from Luz Del Sur (LDS), a power distribution company in Peru, at an underlying transaction price of USD 3.59 billion, and completed the equity delivery.
May 10
On May 10, the major asset restructuring of Chongqing Three Gorges Water Conservancy and Electric Power Co., Ltd. was approved by China Securities Regulatory Commission.
June 10
On June 10, “Key Laboratory of Intelligent Yangtze and Hydroelectric Science in Hubei Province” under the leadership of CYPC was officially unveiled in the Three Gorges Dam Area.
June 29
On June 29, the first batch of units, Units 6 and 7 of Wudongde HPP, were put into operation for power generation. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Hao Peng, Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
August 21
On August 21, the No. 5 flood peak of the Yangtze River with 75,000 cubic meters per second in 2020 was successfully under control.
September 25
On September 25, 2020, global depository receipts (GDRs) under the Shanghai-London Stock Connect mechanism were issued. Then, on September 30, the company completed the issuance and listing of GDRs. A total of about 76 million GDRs were issued on London Stock Exchange with an additional issuance of 760 million A-shares as underlying securities, raising a total amount of USD 2.011 billion.
November 1
On November 1, the whole procedures of completion and acceptance of the Three Gorges Project were completed. According to the acceptance conclusion, the Three Gorges Project has been fully completed with generally excellent quality, meeting relevant regulations, specifications and design requirements. The project runs in good conditions and gives full play to its comprehensive benefits in flood control, power generation, navigation and water resources utilization.
November 15
On November 15, the Three Gorges HPP has totally generated 103.1 TWh of clean hydropower in 2020, breaking the world record of annual power generation of a single hydropower plant, 103.098 TWh, created and kept by Itaipu HPP in South America in 2016.
December 31
By 24:00 on December 31, 2020, the Three Gorges HPP has totally generated 111.8 TWh of clean hydropower, setting a new world record of annual power generation of a single hydropower plant. The accumulative power generation of the Three Gorges, Gezhouba, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba cascade hydropower plants of CYPC in 2020 reached 226.93 TWh, creating a new record of annual accumulative power generation since they were put into operation.
