Murum Hydropower Plant (Murum HPP) is located in the East Sarawak State of Malaysia, and the dam is located on the Murum River, which is the source of Rajang river basin. The power station is equipped with four hydroelectric generating units with a single unit capacity of 236 MW. The total installed capacity of the power station is 944 MW, making it the second largest hydropower station in Malaysia.
It is the first overseas project of CYPC, which provides operation, maintenance and technical consulting services for Murum HPP in Malaysia. In order to successfully realize the output and dissemination of core operation and management capabilities for large hydropower stations, CYPC attached great importance, made careful organization, and compiled the technical regulations, management documents and SOPs for the Murum Project in accordance with the requirements of international general technical standards. CYPC has compiled a total of 20 operation regulations, 33 maintenance regulations, 31 maintenance instructions, 100 SOPs and 13 management documents. Since July 2014, CYPC had sent two groups of consulting engineers to provide on-site O&M and technical consulting services overseas. The first consulting team successfully put 4 generating units of Murum HPP into operation, and the second consulting team achieved a record of "zero unscheduled shutdown" of Murum HPP from August 2015 to September 2016 when the consulting ended, providing stable and reliable clean energy for local economic development. With the gradual recovery of Malaysia's economy, the electricity load in Sarawak has gradually increased. The stable electric power of Murum HPP has provided important energy support for the local economic development and stability. At present, CYPC continues to provide technical consulting services for Murum HPP through remote diagnosis, and assists Murum HPP in domestic procurement of spare parts.
Thanks to the consulting services, Murum HPP has established a complete production management system, and both operation management capabilities and personnel technical skills have been improved. CYPC has also realized the first output of core operation capabilities of large hydropower stations, and built up its brand image in operation and management of hydropower stations.
Employer's comments: "I would like to thank our friends from China! They have made outstanding contributions to the safe operation of our hydropower station from grid connection to operation maintenance in the past year. Thanks again!"
